As the world’s first major international standard on sustainable procurement, ISO 20400 is designed to increase supply chain transparency, giving organisations a framework through which they can fully integrate sustainability into their procurement processes.
ISO 20400 was first published in April 2017 and as part of our ongoing programme of support for organisations we’re hosting a free webinar; ISO 20400: The Road to Sustainable Procurement.
The webinar, led by Filippo Cerini, senior consultant at Bureau Veritas, will delve deeper into the subject of sustainable procurement, providing an overview and introduction to the standard itself, as well as discussing the benefits of achieving certification. We will also discuss practical steps on how to effectively use the standard to implement sustainable procurement.
Filippo Cerini said: “Although the concept of sustainable procurement has been around for some time, until now organisations adopting sustainable procurement practices have defined the concept as they saw fit. Indeed, in the absence of a globally recognised and accepted framework, methods across companies and regions have been inconsistent.
“The publication of ISO 20400 was a significant step towards a uniform approach, which in turn helps to raise standards across all industries.
“This is the latest example of the Bureau Veritas sustainability team working closely with organisations to support them with insight and practical advice. I’m looking forward to discussing the topic in more detail with participants.”
