Bureau Veritas is providing a broad range of consultancy support to the team behind a new £10m care facility in Broadbridge Heath near Horsham in West Sussex. When completed in early 2019 the development will provide a 70 bed care home plus accommodation for over 55s in eight care apartments and three cottages.
Bureau Veritas is delivering integrated services in the roles of Project manager, Cost Consultant, Building Control and Civil & Structural Engineer. It is also providing CDM consultancy support.
Client for the project is the Halebourne Stag Lodge Ltd and the architect is Hay Associates. Contractor, Lawrence Baker, began work on site in October 2017.
Bureau Veritas was appointed to the scheme at an early stage, based on its successful track record over many years in the care home sector and its ability to provide a one-stop-shop for the consultancy services required.
Working closely with the client it first verified the financial feasibility of the scheme which comprises a three-floor care home and a three-floor apartment block plus cottages, all of traditional construction.
It then produced the tender design up to construction standard for the civils (drainage and external works) and structures (concrete foundations, masonry walls, concrete floors) before overseeing the tender process and the appointment of the contractor.
Subsequently, in its role as Project Manager and Cost Consultant, Bureau Veritas has worked to ensure the project’s smooth running and cost control in order to maintain the contract programme and budget.
